The future of a cafe in Nottinghamshire looks uncertain after the owner announced they are placing the cafe up for sale. The Meadow cafe in Lady Bay is looking for a new tenant to take on a three-year lease and the shutters are down.

In a post on Facebook, the owner announced they are leaving the cafe on the corner in order to pursue different business opportunities. They highlighted the cafe's close proximity to the Nottingham Forest football stadium which could mean busy footfall for someone looking to take on the cafe. It is also across the road from the Lady Bay Retail Park.

They wrote: "It is with deep regret I have decided to sell Meadow Lane Cafe to pursue new business interests. Being right around the corner from Nottingham Forest football stadium, I see this cafe as a really good investment. Looking for a quick sale so If you are interested, you can contact me directly."

The cafe has remained closed since a fire in one of the properties above the businesses in May 2021. The extensive fire required seven fire trucks to get the situation under control.

The flat was located above Dee's Flavour, a West Indian Takeaway, which is next door to Meadow Lane Cafe and it took the roof off the property. Although there was no structural damage to the Meadow Lane Cafe, it had to remain closed until it could be deemed safe to reopen.

The premises has been a cafe for years but it had been given a new lease of life with a £10,000 refurbishment from then-owners Robert Richardson and his wife, Jade just days before lockdown came into force.

Despite Covid restrictions, customers visited the cafe for the friendly service and sandwiches. It had good ratings and reviews on Trip Advisor and Google.

One person wrote: "Stopped in to grab a coffee and bacon cob after a run down the river. Both were delicious, good sized cob and nice thick bacon. Perfect Friday morning pick me up. Nice decor and friendly staff, would be a nice spot to sit in once allowed again."

Another agreed: "Have to say had a lovely bacon and egg cob done to perfection after saying how I like bacon and egg. Latte was very nice and staff very helpful. Diffo coming back. Lots of space for safe distancing. Modern chic place."
